Day 7 - Brisbane is Heaven

Well it's only 6pm and I'm pretty much tuckered for the night. Married life killed my longevity. Truth be told there's only so much drinking and eating a guy can do by himself. This is one of many reasons why I miss my wife. But life must go on right? And such is my journey.

Day 7

After hitting the Hervey Bay Esplanade this morning to take some more amazing beach and water photos (You Aussies don't realize how good you have it) I drove the three and half hours to Brisbane. More roadwork blah, blah, blah. Let's jump to Brisbane shall we.

I arrived in the trendy neighborhood of New Farm around 2pm. From the moment I entered its restaurant and pub filled streets I knew I loved this place. If you're from Vancouver, think of it as being the coolest of Kits and the greatest of Commercial Drive. If you're from Regina, Canada, think of it as just WAY better than anything you know (wink).
The hotel I'm staying in is called 612 On the Brunswick. It's funky and modern inside. It's rated as the place to stay with the gay crowd, so you know it's posh.
After a quick shower I headed out to a local coffee shop I spotted on the way in. Finally a place with great customer service and free wi-fi. What's with Australians charging for Internet? Don't they know it will draw in customers.
I then headed over to a Pub called The Yard Bird which specializes in Canadian fare. What is Canadian food and drink? I did have a Hefeweisen beer and 12 hot wings, and they did taste pretty close to home.

I was still hungry so I walked down Brunswick street to see what else I could find to fill my belly. As I walked I noticed that the women here are very well kept, and in shape. Not that the women in the other places I've visited have been tubs of lard, but the locals here are definitely a step above. One such beauty had the most stunning eyes, but she took her 'body care' to extremes. I noticed her immediately as she crossed the street, but as I peered at her pipes (arm muscles) I was astonished that they were twice the size of mine. She was ripped. It was a little too much for me, but there's probably a few guys out there fantasizing about her bench pressing them in the bedroom.
I finally came across another pub/cafe called The Alibi Room. It was taco night, and they were being served for $2 a piece. I ordered three and a $5 Corona. The tacos were excellent for two bucks, but if they charged anymore I might be a more discerning customer.

And here I stand, on my hotel balcony, staring out at the ominous clouds in the distance. I'm thinking I may not be done for the night just yet. There's a tavern across the street that has Trivia every Tuesday night. Perhaps I can give some of the 60 year old seasoned alcoholics a run for their money. (Speaking of trivia, did you know Hitler was into golden showers? True. I learned that playing trivia with 'the boys' in university)

Tomorrow I'll be on he town with my new friend (hopefully) Christina. I hope I can keep up.
Jimmy
